World of Warcraft Classic – a deep insight into the game

World Of Warcraft Classic

World of Warcraft Classic is an MMORPG game released in 2019. WoW Classic is another addition to Blizzard Entertainment’s Warcraft series games.

World of Warcraft Classic is Blizzard’s approach to bring back the original World of Warcraft game experience. To be exact, World of Warcraft Classic mostly focuses on recreating the looks and feel as the original World of Warcraft game was in patch 1.12.1 released in September 2006. You might ask why they’ve released the same game again?

Therefore let’s discuss what is World of Warcraft in the first place.

What is World of Warcraft?

World of Warcraft was the world’s most popular MMORPG by player count of nearly 10 million in 2009. [Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Warcraft#:~:text=World%20of%20Warcraft%20was%20the,game%20franchises%20of%20all%20time.]

It was first released in 2004. Developed by Blizzard Entertainment as the continuation of the Warcraft game series.

World of Warcraft is an MMORPG or Massively multiplayer online role-playing game. For starters, in an MMORPG game, a player has to assume a role for his/her character and complete quests. Indeed, massively multiplayer already suggests that the roles, characters, and quests available are also huge. Typically they follow some sort of fantasy-world or the science-fiction world.

World of Warcraft follows the same recipe. The story takes place four years after Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne in the Warcraft world of Azeroth. Of course, soon after the release, the game became popular all over the world.

It was back in 2004 when World of Warcraft was released. Now, what is World of Warcraft Classic then?

What is World of Warcraft Classic?

You can call World of Warcraft Classic a vanilla release of the legendary game World of Warcraft. What’s a vanilla release?

Vanilla Release

Vanilla release is releasing an old software once again without making major customizations or alterations. It is a sort of rebranding of the original product.

How is World of Warcraft Classic a vanilla release?

World of Warcraft Classic focuses mainly on how the original World of Warcraft game was in it’s September 2006 patch 1.12.1. For this reason, to a certain extend, World of Warcraft Classic also maintains all the looks and features of World of Warcraft.

World of Warcraft Classic keeps all the exact same art style, quest texts, NPCs, and overall visuals as World of Warcraft did. In fact, all the previous bugs also had been preserved! A WoW veteran will obviously feel nostalgic to play WoW Classic.

Well, it’s the same game then?

World of Warcraft vs World of Warcraft Classic

What makes WoW Classic different from WoW can be pinpointed to a single factor – technology. Modern server technology is the backbone of WoW Classic.

WoW players can recall the amount of time they had to wait for things just to load. So they often wouldn’t collect any loot from what they’ve killed just because of how awfully slow the servers were. This is not a serious issue with WoW Classic. Even the laggiest areas in WoW Classic are more or less playable.

WoW Classic will feel like the same old WoW with the exact same art and textures. Of course, the gameplay will obviously feel smoother than WoW because it is the same game bolted on top of modern technology. However, smooth does not mean easy. WoW Classic is still hard as the original WoW was.

Why a re-release?

The question is obvious. Why was there ever a need of re-releasing the same game?

The answer would be Nostalgia.

The original WoW was released in 2004. Releasing WoW Classic with the same feel in 2019 brings back the nostalgia. Players can feel the excitement they’ve felt 15 years ago. And the game does a very good job of preserving the original experience.

The game did see a blast as players rushed to play WoW Classic as the game released. Servers were literally jammed. There were queues of hundreds of players waiting to just join the game.

What’s different in WoW Classic?

WoW Classic resembles the original WoW. As WoW is a 16-year-old game as of today, the gameplay is far more different than what this generation is used to.

Most of the games today are solo adventures. One can play all alone and be okay with it. A player doesn’t need the help of another player to complete his gameplay. This also leads to modern solidarity.

The case was not the same back in 2004. To play WoW, players had to team-up. Players had to scout for team members because quests were impossible to complete all alone. This led to an online socialization among the players.

Despite being released in the modern era of 2019, WoW Classic still continues to hold on to the old socialization scheme of WoW from back in 2004. This is what makes WoW Classic a new yet different game than the rest of the modern games.

Pricing

The server option for WoW Classic is free as long as you have the subscription for the current WoW game.

The subscription costs $15 a month.

Unlike WoW, the highest level of talent points in WoW Classic is 51.

You can use various talent calculators available online to quickly calculate how much talent points you have collected and how much more you can collect.

The steps are quite easy.

  1. Choose a role
  2. Choose the talents you have collected
  3. The total talent points will be shown.

Here are two online talent calculators we’ve listed. Feel free to search for more. They’re pretty much the same.
